Deontay Wilder has told Andy Ruiz Jr to show more hunger for glory ahead of his much anticipated “fight of desert” rematch with Anthony Joshua.

The Mexican heavyweight champion has a huge task ahead of him when he meets the Nigerian-born pugilist to defend his belts.

Ruiz Jr stunned the world when he floored Joshua through a seventh-round knockout to cart away the Briton’s WBA, IBF & WBO belts in June 1, 2018, in New York.

The second leg of the bout will hold in December 7 in Saudi Arabia and the Mexican star had been tipped for glory by WBC heavyweight champ Wilder.

“Of course, we’re [Ruiz] with the same stable. I’m rooting for him to do, and what he set out to do the first time,’‘ Wilder said.

The 32-year-old American boxer also admonished Ruiz to channel his confidence and motivation to his fight

“I am [Ruiz to win]. Ruiz Jr has all the motivation and confidence that he needs from the first fight.

“I don’t think he is one to dwell after obtaining a little taste of success. This is just the beginning, especially when you become a champion

“You’ve got to stay hungry,” Wilder said to Sky Sports.

Meanwhile, had reported that Andy Ruiz Jr believes Anthony Joshua is worried and desperate to win the rematch ahead of his much anticipated bout with the Nigeria-British born fighter in December.
