Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has explained that French footballer Karim Benzema can also be ranked alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in the history of the club.

Zidane’s latest comment about Karim Benzema comes after the striker scored twice in the club’s Champions League victory over Galatasaray on Wednesday, November 6.

Karim Benzema has now reached 50-goal mark for Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The 31-year-old striker has been playing for Real Madrid since 2009/10 season after joining Los Blancos from Lyon for €35 million with the fee rising to as much as €41 million based on incentives.

And since Karim Benzema has been playing for Real Madrid, the forward has been superb winning four Champions League title for the club.

Benzema has also won the Spanish La Liga title twice and UEFA Super Cup three times at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He is believed to a close friend with Cristiano Ronaldo even though they are no longer teammates as the Portuguese now plays for Juventus.

“I’m very happy for Karim. It’s true that he’s overtaken a legend of this club like Alfredo di Stefano by scoring his 50th European Cup goal.

“He’s now like Cristiano Ronaldo in the history of this club. He’s doing something amazing and we simply have to enjoy it and make the most of it,” Zidane explained according to Marca.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Zinedine Zidane could quit as Real Madrid manager for a second time after the club failed to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United.

The Los Blancos boss was desperate to sign the United midfielder this summer and the feeling was mutual with his fellow compatriot.
