Borno governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has said that the whereabouts of the Boko Haram terrorists is well known to both security agencies, monarchs and most members of the public in the state.
He said the issue of the insurgency can be reduced to the barest minimum by taking the fight to the terrorists since their locations are well known.
Leadership reports that the governor stated this on Tuesday, November 5 at a one-day Northeast Security Summit organised by the Nigeria Police Force..
His words: “The whereabouts of the criminals is well known to all of us. It is well known to the Nigerian military, it is well known to the Nigerian police, the Civil Defence, and the DSS.
“Therefore, the only solution is to take the fight to the corridors of the insurgents.”
He expressed the readiness of the state governments in the northeast region to support the Nigerian military and the police to ensure that the terrorists are defeated.
Other speakers at the event included the governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni and the chairman, Senate committee on rmy, Senator Ali Ndume.
Ndume was recently quoted to have said Boko Haram still operates in three locations of the northeastern part of Nigeria.
He said the terrorists operate from the fringes of Lake Chad, the Mandara mountains and the Sambisa forests.
He also lamented the poor budgetary allocations to the military, stressing conventional tactics and strategies, poor budgets and inadequate security operatives are issues affecting the fight against Boko Haram.
