– APC has kicked against the court decision that gave victory to Senator Olujimi
– The party said the judgement truncated people’s wishes
– Meanwhile, the PDP lauded the decision, calling it a great one
Reactions have continued to trail the sack of Dayo Adeyeye of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the appeal court.
Recall that the court had recently declared Senator Biodun Olujimi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the legitimate senator representing Ekiti South senatorial district after the appeal of Adeyeye was struck out.
In its reaction, the ruling APC described the judgement as travesty of justice and truncation of peoples wishes.
However, the PDP hailed the decision, claiming that the judgement earlier declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not reflect the true vote cast, The Nation reports.
The party also berated INEC for allegedly colluding with the APC to deprive Olujimi and the PDP of the mandate given to them by the people of the senatorial district.
Meanwhile, Elder Sam Oluwalana, APC director of media and publicity, in Ekiti state urged the people not to be discouraged by the court judgement.
Recall that Legit.ng had reported that the Court of Appeal sacked spokesman of the Nigerian Senate, Adedayo Adeyeye, as the lawmaker representing Ekiti South senatorial district in the upper chamber of legislature.
The appellant court declared Senator Biodun Olujimi of the PDP winner of the election.
Olujimi, a former principal officer in the 8th senate, is a former deputy governor of Ekiti state. She had won the case at the lower tribunal in the state weeks back.
